Job summary

Winters Technical Staffing client is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing team in the ICI sector. You will work on diverse projects across commercial, industrial and institutional buildings, delivering detailed electrical designs and coordination with clients and other consultants.

Responsibilities include preparing schematics, layouts, and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit, ensuring ASHRAE and LEED compliance where applicable, and reviewing shop drawings to meet project

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is an asset.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation is required.
• Membership with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) is an asset.
• 5+ years of Electrical Engineering experience for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings.
• Experience designing HV substations, fire alarms, lighting, emergency power generation, MV/LV distribution systems.
• Knowledge of codes and standards such as CEC, OBC, NBC, etc.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Design layouts and specifications for lighting, distribution, fire alarm and emergency power.
• Attend meetings with clients, contractors and consultants.
• Provide guidance in analysis and resolution of problems.

• Create technical reports, calculations and sketches.
• Create specifications and equipment selections.
• Review shop drawings for project compliance.
• Follow company policies and file structures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement the design concept through the preparation of electrical detailed design, production drawings and schematics for industrial, commercial, and/or institutional buildings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Design and prepare layouts and specification for lighting, electrical distribution (single line diagrams), emergency power distribution, fire alarm, wiring diagrams, riser diagrams, cable, and panel schedules.
• Engage in meetings with clients, contractors, and other consultants regarding project reports and findings.
• Provide expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.
• Ensure ASHRAE and LEED compliance where applicable.
• Create technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
• Create specifications and equipment selection.
• Review shop drawings to confirm they adhere to project requirements.
• Consistently follow company policies, procedures, and file structures/formatting.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Work experience designing HV substations, fire alarms, lighting, emergency power generation, MV and LV distribution systems, and large electrical systems.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code, Ontario Building Code (OBC), Canadian National Building Code (NBC), etc.
• Ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work under pressure on various tasks.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
