Duration : 1 year (with potential extension up to 3 years)
Location : Preferred Edmonton, open to Calgary
- In-Office : Monday, Tuesday & Thursday
Travel : Up to 10% (site visits within Canada; occasional U.S. travel may be required)
Driving Requirement : Yes – Driver’s Abstract required
What You Will Do :
- Own and manage relationships and contracts with Engineering Services Providers (ESP).
- Lead the design review process with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, codes, and client's specifications, standards, and procedures—including process hazard operability and constructability.
- Lead material specification and requisition by reviewing vendor quotes, evaluating technical bids, and providing recommendations based on technical merit, price, and delivery. Collaborate with Supply Chain for procurement.
- Support planning and scheduling during design and procurement phases.
- Provide technical support throughout all phases of the project : development, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage ESPs in incorporating red-line markups into as-built drawings.
- Contribute to the development of project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, and risk analysis during the development phase.
- Support Operations with incident investigations post-handover.
- Review and integrate lessons learned from previous projects to promote standardized, programmatic approaches in future designs.
Who You Are :
- 7+ years of progressive experience designing power distribution systems in Oil & Gas, including hands-on analysis of control schematics (e.g., MV switchgear / motor control centers, electrical switchgear buildings, MV VFDs), controls, and systems integration.
- Professional Engineer designation with APEGA, or eligible for registration.
- Demonstrated planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled facilitator and collaborator with the ability to influence decisions without formal authority.
- Strong knowledge of national electrical codes (CEC, NEC) and standards (API, IEEE, UL, etc.).
