Job summary

Dawn Staffing Solutions Inc is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer with a P.Eng. license to lead the design of electrical systems for industrial equipment manufacturing in the GTA region.

This role focuses on power distribution, motor controls, PLC/HMI, and automation, with responsibility for accurate schematics and compliance with codes. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing.
• 7–10 years of electrical design experience in equipment manufacturing or industrial automation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, safety standards and certifications (CSA, UL, CE).
• Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN and PLC/HMI integration.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design of manufacturing equipment including power distribution and controls.
• Prepare, review, and stamp detailed schematics, wiring diagrams and layouts.
• Ensure compliance with CEC, CSA, UL and industry standards.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls and production teams for integrated designs.
• Oversee component selection, vendor evaluation and specifications.
• Perform load calculations, safety analyses and risk assessments.
• Support assembly, testing and commissioning on shop floor.
• Provide mentorship to junior designers and technicians.
• Review BOMs and support procurement processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement for efficiency, reliability and safety.

Shift - Days

Pay - $100k-$150k/year

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of manufacturing equipment, including power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, HMI, sensors, and automation systems.
• Prepare, review, and stamp detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA, UL, and other industry standards relevant to equipment manufacturing.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and production teams to develop integrated designs.
• Oversee electrical component selection, vendor evaluation, and technical specifications for equipment builds.
• Conduct electrical load calculations, safety analysis, and risk assessments.
• Support equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior designers and technicians.
• Review electrical bills of materials (BOM) and support procurement processes.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives for product efficiency, reliability, and safety.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7–10 years of electrical design experience in an equipment manufacturing or industrial automation environment.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar design tools.
• Experience with PLC/HMI programming and integration (Rockwell, Siemens, or equivalent).
• Hands‑on troubleshooting and commissioning experience in manufacturing environments.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills.
