Job summary

Trevor Frances Recruitment in Canada is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a manufacturing client. You will design, optimize, and support electrical and automation systems to improve reliability, productivity, and safety.

Responsibilities include PLC programming, CAD drawings (AutoCAD Electrical), project management, coordinating with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility is an asset.
  • Experience with CIM systems.
  • Hands-on PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation systems.
  • Experience with Wonderware or similar HMI/SCADA platforms.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and industrial standards.
  • Inventory management systems and automation integration are assets.
  • Experience with emergency power, lighting, or fire alarm systems is considered an asset.

  • Support maintenance and production teams by troubleshooting issues and implementing corrective solutions.
  • Design and implement electrical modifications to improve performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Develop project scopes, technical specs, equipment layouts, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate projects with contractors, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure implementation.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and deliverables.
  • Perform electrical studies, testing, and system evaluations as required.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, calculations, reports and project records.
  • Recommend continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys designing and improving automated manufacturing systems, solving complex technical challenges, and leading projects from concept through implementation. You will play a key role in the design, optimization, and support of electrical and automation systems that improve equipment reliability, productivity, and operational efficiency.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and automation solutions for manufacturing operations.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility is considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3 years of electrical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) systems.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience with Wonderware or similar HMI/SCADA platforms.
  • Experience with process automation and manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience in foam manufacturing, foam fabrication, or other continuous manufacturing environments is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or comparable electrical design software.
  • Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and industrial standards.
  • Understanding of inventory management systems and automation integration is an asset.
  • Experience with emergency power systems, lighting, or fire alarm systems is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and time management abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results.
