Job summary

InnoTech Engineering Inc. is seeking Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers/Technologists to join our Calgary and Edmonton teams.

You will develop electrical, instrumentation, and controls designs, provide technical leadership on projects, and support design, implementation, and commissioning efforts across OT infrastructure. You should bring 10+ years of engineering experience, a relevant degree or diploma, and professional registration.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or technical diploma with a focus on electrical or instrumentation engineering.
  • 10+ years industry experience in engineering or with an end-user; preference for 5+ years in consulting engineering.
  • Registered as an Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Licensee (P.L.(Eng.)) with APEGA or CET/P.Tech.(Eng.) with ASET.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams to achieve project goals.
  • Coordinate and lead conceptual engineering, including scope, cost estimates, and implementation planning.
  • Independently prepare and lead electrical, instrumentation, and controls designs/drawings (control panels, loop drawings, network architectures, cable schedules, power distribution).
  • Read and interpret P&IDs for electrical/instrumentation design.
  • Coordinate on-site information gathering, construction and commissioning support.
  • Coordinate and lead panel inspection and testing.
  • Provide technical leadership to project teams and assign/track deliverables.
  • Review and take responsibility for project deliverables produced by the team.

We are currently recruiting Senior Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers/Technologists to join the growing team based in our Calgary and Edmonton, AB offices.

About InnoTech Engineering

InnoTech is an engineering company focused on Operational Technology (OT) spanning instrumentation, electrical and automation infrastructure. Our team consists of highly skilled engineers, technologists, and technicians with vast experience, capable of handling both small and large OT projects while also providing support for day-to-day facility operations. InnoTech’s primary services are Controls (PLC, DCS, SCADA), Electrical (low and medium voltage), Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) engineering, and OT Lifecycle Planning and Cybersecurity.

Position Summary

If you’re chosen for this role, you’ll join our team of highly skilled engineers and technologists to develop electrical, instrumentation, and controls designs to successfully deliver projects for our clients. You will provide technical leadership and support as a member of our project teams, applying and developing your knowledge in design, implementation, and commissioning to solve problems, creating value for our clients. Role And Responsibilities
  • Reporting to an Engineering Team Lead, the team member’s primary responsibility will be focusing on achieving project goals by collaborating with cross-discipline engineering teams.
  • Coordinate and lead conceptual engineering solutions including scope of work, cost estimates, and implementation planning.
  • Independently prepare and lead the development of electrical, instrumentation, and controls designs/drawings, including, but not limited to, control panel designs, loop drawings, network architecture drawings, electrical infrastructure deliverables (cable schedules, power distribution, etc.) and electrical calculations (load lists, voltage drop, conduit/cable tray/wireway fill, etc.).
  • Read and interpret P&IDs for electrical and instrumentation design purposes.
  • Coordinate and lead on‑site information gathering, and construction and commissioning support.
  • Coordinate and lead panel inspection and testing.
  • Provide technical leadership to project teams, including assigning and tracking project deliverables by junior and intermediate staff.
  • Review and take responsibility for project deliverables developed by a project team.
  • Demonstration and leadership in applying InnoTech Values and Disciplines.
  • Comply with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this position’s responsibilities.
Qualifications And Skills
  • Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma from an accredited post‑secondary institution with a focus on electrical or instrumentation engineering.
  • 10+ years industry experience in engineering or with an end‑user. Preference will be given to those with at least 5 years in a consulting engineering environment.
  • Registered as an Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Licensee (P.L.(Eng.)) with APEGA or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.(Eng.)) with ASET.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; fluency in English is essential.

  • Willingness to travel – travel to customer sites will be required (approximately 10%).
  • Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
