On behalf of our client, Red River Co-op, we are currently seeking a Senior Director, Finance, who will lead the financial and administrative functions of the organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position plays a key leadership role in financial planning, reporting, controls, budgeting, and risk management. The successful candidate will also support a diverse team that includes finance professionals and operational staff, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure sound financial oversight and strategic execution.

The successful candidate values both precision and people, bringing a strong technical accounting background, a proven track record in leadership, and a willingness to dig into the details to support their team and the organization’s goals.

As the Senior Director Finance, you are responsible for:

• Financial Leadership and Controls
• Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with accounting standards.
• Lead audits, manage cash flow analysis, and support financial planning and performance monitoring.
• Oversee financial systems, reporting processes of the subsidiaries, and lead initiatives to improve efficiency and business insight.
• Budgeting
• Lead and coordinate the annual budgeting process with input from operational teams.
• Prepare and manage the administration budget, ensuring accurate data entry and version control.
• Consolidate and finalize budgets for organizational review and strategic alignment.
• Team Leadership and Development
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to a cross-functional team.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, workload distribution, and cross-training within the department.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and service-oriented team culture aligned with Co-op values.

You and Your Experience:

• CPA designation (CA, CMA, or CGA) is required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 4 years in a leadership capacity (Controller or equivalent role).
• Strong working knowledge of period-end close processes, financial statement preparation, budgeting, and audit coordination.
• Solid Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, data analysis); experience with legacy systems is an asset.
• A background in public practice is a strong asset.
• Exposure to or direct experience with financial system conversions or IT-related finance projects is an asset.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a collaborative, hands-on, and solution-oriented approach.
• Passion for continuous improvement and helping others succeed.
• Energized by a purpose-driven environment that values community and connection.
• Ability to travel, generally within the province.
