Job summary

Nova Mutual in Ontario is seeking a Director, Claims & Loss Prevention to provide strategic and operational leadership for claims handling and loss prevention across the organization. You will lead a team of claims and loss prevention professionals, ensuring strong technical performance, consistent service delivery, appropriate reserving practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

You will play a central role in reducing financial loss, liability exposure, and operational risk

Qualifications

• The candidate holds a college/university degree in Insurance or Business Administration.
• Progressive insurance industry experience with leadership exposure is required.
• Strong knowledge of claims operations, reserving, QA, and loss prevention.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership to the Claims & Loss Prevention team.
• Oversee claims operations for timely, fair resolutions and regulatory compliance.
• Establish reserving guidelines, quality standards, and workflows.
• Provide guidance on large-loss and complex claims across all lines of business.
• Develop and implement loss prevention strategies to reduce risk and cost.
• Lead a quality assurance program with audits and corrective actions.
• Monitor trends and metrics; report findings to the Leadership Team.
