What is the opportunity?

RBC’s Transformation & Enterprise Operations (TEO) team is seeking a strategic leader to drive large-scale program delivery, governance, and transformation across our global operations. With 1,600+ team members worldwide, TEO powers critical shared services in Payments, Trade, Cash Processing, and Finance (e.g., GL Reconciliations, Accounts Payable). As we advance our transformation journey, this role will shape strategy, execution, and innovation to ensure RBC remains competitive and future‑ready.

Reporting to the SVP of TEO, you’ll partner with RBC IT and senior leadership to deliver high‑impact programs aligned with organizational goals. This is a unique opportunity to lead change, build high‑performing teams, and deliver measurable results for internal and external stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For:

The ideal Senior Director, Head of Business Program Management is a seasoned leader with a proven track record for overseeing the strategic direction, implementation and overall success of large‑scale complex business programs within TEO. This leader possesses a unique blend of strategic vision, operational excellence, and exceptional communication skills. Your expertise in a business program execution and oversight will be critical in advancing TEO’s strategic priorities and delivering measurable impact.

What will you do?
Strategic Program Leadership
  • Oversee management of high profile programs and partner with RBC IT partners to lead the execution of TEO’s strategic programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and ambitions.
  • Work with senior leadership to define business case, program objectives, scope, timelines, and budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
  • Translate the program vision into a clear program scope to include a detailed roadmap with associated financial targets, execution design and deliverables. Executing, tracking and reporting on key performance indicators regularly.
Program Management Excellence
  • Responsible for developing practice of program management in TEO. Establish standardised processes, methodologies, and tools for program management across the organisation.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities for process improvement and implementing best practices to enhance program management effectiveness. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Manage and facilitate the execution of scaled Agile delivery including dependencies across the program and initiatives including technology prioritisation, resource/outsource considerations, system dependencies and service partner capabilities. Manage all programme milestones including status to all stakeholders, provide timely updates including but not limited to executive level reporting for Executive Steering Committee (ESC).
Team & Stakeholder Leadership
  • Build out of high‑performing delivery lead. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster a culture of trust, innovation and scalability. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among programme teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with RBC IT partners and teams to identify, assess, and mitigate programme risks, developing contingency plans and ensuring proactive risk management.
  • Track programme progress against key performance indicators (KPIs), analyse data, and provide regular reports to stakeholders.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
  • 12+ years leading large‑scale business/technology programmes (multi‑geography experience preferred).
  • 10+ years establishing programme governance, PMO practices, or agile delivery frameworks.
  • 7+ years managing and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity, drive strategic change, and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven decision‑making skills.
Nice to Have
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Experience translating business strategy into actionable programme plans, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and delivering measurable results.
  • Understanding of enterprise operations including key trends, challenges, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data to inform programme decisions, track progress, and measure success.
  • Experience managing programmes with international scope, including cultural sensitivity and understanding of global business practices.
