Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Dietary Aide to serve meals to residents and guests in a professional, courteous manner, assist in setup and preparation, and deliver tray service as required.

You will help with cleaning, maintain dining areas, participate in special events, and assist in training new dietary staff while complying with health and safety regulations. Proficiency in a second language is a plus and a Vulnerable Sector Check may be required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Preference for experience in food service with seniors.
• Must possess or be enrolled in Food Service Worker Training Program.
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift.
• Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
• Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• To serve meals to residents and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
• To assist in set up and preparation for service of items such as beverages, salads, desserts, etc.
• To set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required.
• To assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery at the conclusion of each seating.
• To assist with maintaining the cleanliness of kitchen and dining area.
• To assist with catering and participate in special occasions and theme events.
• To assist in orientation and training of new dietary employees.
• To follow health and safety legislation and departmental safe job procedures.
• To comply with provincial regulations and department policies.
• To be aware of Resident Rights & Responsibilities and promote it.
• To attend in-service training to better serve residents.
• To attend staff meetings and participate in Quality Improvement.
• To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults.
