Job summary

A leading bank is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join their GBM Data Platform team in Toronto, Ontario. This role involves designing and improving the bank’s data platform infrastructure, ensuring reliability and operational support for critical production systems. With a focus on cloud technologies such as Kubernetes and DevOps best practices, the ideal candidate should have extensive experience supporting data workloads. Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering roles with production responsibility.
• Strong experience administering and supporting Kafka and/or Elasticsearch clusters in production environments.
• Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Docker in enterprise-scale deployments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate scalable cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
• Provide senior-level DevOps guidance for onboarding regulatory data workloads.
• Define and promote CI/CD best practices and infrastructure automation.
• Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes.
• Participate in on-call rotations for production support.

Skills

Hands-on experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering

Experience with Kafka and Elasticsearch

Expertise with Kubernetes and Docker

Strong Linux system administration

Experience with CI/CD and automation tools

Scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash/Shell, or Groovy

Experience monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana

Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Education
