Job summary

Randstad Canada seeks a Senior DevOps/Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and automated CI/CD pipelines. You will own containerization, CI workflows, and Linux cloud environments across AWS and OpenShift, working with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability.

Hybrid work model in Toronto (3 days in office) for a 6-month contract, with preference for public sector experience. Strong focus on IaC, security, and automation.

Qualifications

• Cloud platforms and Linux infrastructure experience on AWS/OpenShift.
• Containerization and orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with GitLab CI/CD tooling.
• Experience with build and IaC tools such as Git, Ansible, CloudFormation, and ytt.
• Scripting languages including Python, Bash, Java, or Node.js.

Responsibilities

• Design, provision, and maintain secure Linux cloud environments (AWS/OpenShift).
• Build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Git, Ansible, CloudFormation, and ytt.
• Package code into containers and manage orchestration with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Create automation scripts in Bash, Python, Java, or Node.js for integrations and maintenance tasks.
• Implement security safeguards and monitor performance to remediate vulnerabilities.
• Write runbooks and knowledge base articles; conduct testing and troubleshooting.

Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOPS/Cloud Engineer to design, build, and maintain robust cloud infrastructure and automated CI/CD pipelines. In this role, you will take hands‑on ownership of application containerization, continuous integration workflows, and complex Linux cloud environments. Working closely with cross-functional development and operations teams, you will optimize container orchestration, integrate security controls, enforce IaC best practices, and ensure high availability for cloud-hosted applications and services.

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid – 3 days in office)

Duration: 6-month contract

Public Sector Experience: Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cloud Infrastructure & Linux Systems: Design, provision, and maintain secure Linux cloud environments (CentOS, Ubuntu) across AWS and OpenShift platforms to host critical applications and services.
• CI/CD Pipeline Engineering: Design, build, administer, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD, Git, Ansible, CloudFormation, and ytt to support continuous development and rapid deployments.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Package application code into containers and manage orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) for automated application scaling, clustering, and deployment.
• Automated Scripting & Integration: Author and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, Java, or JavaScript/Node.js to facilitate system integrations, API workflows, and routine maintenance tasks.
• Security & Vulnerability Mitigation: Implement security safeguards, monitor system performance, identify and remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities, and maintain data integrity.
• System Operations & Testing: Conduct technical testing cycles, troubleshoot infrastructure defects, assess technology stacks, and author operational runbooks and knowledge base articles.

Qualifications

• Cloud Platforms & Linux Infrastructure: Proven hands‑on experience maintaining complex Linux cloud environments (CentOS, Ubuntu) on platforms such as AWS or OpenShift (Strictly Required).
• Containerization & Orchestration: Strong experience with application containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes (K8s) (Strictly Required).
• Mandatory CI/CD Tooling: Demonstrated proficiency building continuous integration pipelines using GitLab CI/CD (Strictly Required).
• Build & IaC Tools: Hands‑on experience with automated build and deployment tools, including Git, Ansible, CloudFormation, and ytt (Strictly Required).
• Scripting Languages: Strong capability in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Java, JavaScript, or Node.js (Strictly Required).
• Education & Experience: University or College degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering; minimum 5 years of hiring/proven track record in cloud engineering and CI/CD role sets.
