Job summary

Sinai Health Foundation is recruiting a Senior Development Officer, Community Events & Initiatives to guide volunteers and lead third-party fundraising and DIY events. You will ensure events align with the foundation’s strategic plan, follow policies, and maximize outcomes across the portfolio.

You will collaborate with the Events team and related departments to enhance the portfolio, grow engagement, and broaden audiences, driving growth in human and financial capital through a robust events

Qualifications

  • A minimum of four (4) years of recent related experience in a large non-profit environment is preferred.
  • University degree or college diploma in a related field from an accredited institution is required or equivalent experience.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online and Funraisin is an asset.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with problem-solving skills; innovative and financially astute.
  • Self-starter with action bias; able to plan, organize and multi-task.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a fundraising strategy to acquire new third party events and DIY fundraisers.
  • Lead peer-to-peer social fundraising challenges.
  • Grow community event revenue 8%–10% per fiscal year.
  • Set and measure KPIs for revenue, growth, engagement, retention and new audiences.
  • Expand the DIY fundraising program onboarding, stewardship and participation.
  • Support third-party event committees and DIY fundraisers through planning and execution.
  • Manage resources to help event organizers promote Sinai Health Foundation.
  • Improve processes with Brand Communications and Donor Experience teams.
  • Attend third-party and partner events as required.

Reporting to the Manager, Community Events & Initiatives, the Senior Development Officer, Community Events & Initiatives will help guide, facilitate and support volunteers who lead third party fundraising events benefitting Sinai Health; support individuals and groups participating in DIY fundraising; lead the growth of the DIY fundraising program; and support partnership events held in collaboration with aligned organizations.

The Senior Development Officer, Community Events & Initiatives will ensure that all events align with Sinai Health Foundation’s strategic plan, that Foundation’s policies and processes are followed, and that all events are on track by continuously evaluating and assessing their events.

The Senior Development Officer, Community Events & Initiatives will work collaboratively with the Events team and related departments to enhance the events and initiatives in their portfolio and maximize outcomes. They will help develop robust third-party, DIY fundraising and partnership event portfolio that reaches different audiences to ensure diversity and growth in human and financial capital.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and execute a fundraising strategy to drive the acquisition of new third party events and DIY fundraisers that meet Sinai Health Foundation’s strategic goals
  • Develop and execute peer-to-peer social fundraising challenges
  • Grow the overall community event revenue by 8% to 10% per fiscal year
  • Set goals and measure year-over-year success of community events and DIY fundraising programs relative to KPIs including revenue, growth, engagement, retention and new audiences
  • Execute the portfolio’s business strategy to increase revenue and engagement through the acquisition of net new and lapsed community events and DIY fundraisers
  • Lead the growth and evolution of the DIY fundraising program by optimizing onboarding, stewardship, participant communications, fundraising journeys and recognition to increase participation, revenue and retention
  • Support third-party event committees, community organizers and DIY fundraisers throughout the event planning, fundraising and execution process
  • Manage and create a portfolio of resources to help event organizers and DIY fundraisers achieve event goals and promote Sinai Health
  • Support and improve community event processes, including working with the Philanthropy team to liaise with key prospects, and cultivating and maintaining a pipeline of events
  • Manage third-party and partner event intake and administration in line with SHF’s policies and strategy
  • Lead event logistics for partner events as outlined in the critical path, including ongoing progress reports to the Manager; liaise with vendors and suppliers
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional business partners in Brand Communications and Donor Experience, throughout critical path to ensure a seamless process
  • Attend third party and partner events, as required
  • Evening and weekend work, as required.

Position requirements:

  • A minimum of four (4) years of recent related experience preferably within a large dynamic non-for-profit environment; experience supporting peer-to-peer, DIY or community-led fundraising would be an asset
  • Successful completion of a university degree or college diploma in a related field from an accredited educational institution. Proven equivalent and recent related education, training and experience may be considered
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Luminate Online and Funraisin would be an asset
  • Ability to handle matters of a sensitive and confidential nature with extraordinary problem-solving skills; an innovative, creative thinking person with demonstrated financial acumen
  • Assertive while respectful in managing expectations of a wide range of stakeholders
  • Self-starter with a bias for action; solutions oriented; able to plan, organize and prioritize work while handling multiple tasks and interruptions
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision

This position has a compensation range of $80,804 to $101,006. The hiring range is $80,804 to $87,804.

Sinai Health Foundation is a hybrid workplace, located in downtown Toronto.
