Job summary

Market IQ in Toronto is seeking a software engineer to tackle data-intensive problems and translate business needs into well-defined functionality, contributing to a secure and scalable web platform.

You will work with modern web frameworks, databases, and a fast-paced engineering team, learning quickly and applying new technologies as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong CS fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in building large-scale web applications and infrastructure.
• Experience creating secure websites or apps.
• Proficiency with multiple programming languages (Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby).
• Strong grasp of OO and SOA paradigms (C++, Java).
• Experience with Django, AppEngine or Rails and MySQL.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and test-driven development.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Familiarity with version control systems.

• Excellent knowledge and experience with both object-oriented and service oriented
  programming paradigms (including C++ and/ or Java)
• Knowledge of database theory; familiarity with MySQL
