Job summary

Pomerleau in Canada is seeking a Design Manager to lead design coordination from concept to construction. You will collaborate with project managers and consultants to ensure accurate design information is shared across departments and delivered on time.

The role emphasizes building code compliance, cost-conscious design, and strong stakeholder communication. You will visit projects to identify issues, review shop drawings, and help optimize designs for large-scale construction across Canada.

Qualifications

• Minimum ten years in senior architecture/design/construction roles on large-scale projects.
• Strong knowledge of design processes and cross-discipline workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.
• Ability to influence internal and external teams strategically.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to estimation and PM teams on constructability, code compliance, and scheduling.
• Develop alternate design arrangements for proposals and pricing with consultants.
• Ensure engineering designs meet specifications and processes are followed.
• Collaborate with design consultants to optimize designs and reduce costs.
• Manage change orders for architectural scope and assess approvals.
• Visit projects on-site to identify issues and propose solutions.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to maintain open communication.
• Review building envelope shop drawings.
