Position Summary

The Senior Analyst, Quality & Safety Analytics is a 1-year temporary full time position that plays a key role in advancing safe, high-quality care at UHN by transforming complex data into trusted insights that support performance monitoring, organizational learning, and continuous improvement.

Working within Data & Analytics and in close partnership with Quality & Safety, the Senior Analyst will design and sustain analytical products that help leaders understand performance, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and make evidence-informed decisions across the organization.

This role supports UHN’s quality and safety analytics ecosystem, including safety event reporting, quality indicators, patient safety, organizational learning, and executive and board reporting. The successful candidate will combine technical expertise, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills to deliver clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences.

This is a dynamic role requiring adaptability across three complementary areas of focus:

  • Analytics products and reporting:Design, develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, reports, data products, and analytical solutions that support quality and safety performance monitoring.
  • Performance insights and storytelling:Analyze complex healthcare data to identify meaningful trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate findings into clear insights for operational, executive, and board-level audiences.
  • Innovation and analytical capability:Apply advanced analytics, automation, and emerging AI-enabled approaches to improve reporting, insight generation, and decision support.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working with complex data, developing analytical solutions, engaging stakeholders, and communicating insights.

Duties
  • Develop and sustain data products, reporting solutions, and analytical tools that support Quality & Safety priorities.
  • Analyze complex healthcare data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Partner with Quality & Safety, clinical, and operational teams to understand business needs and translate them into analytical requirements.
  • Support performance measurement and monitoring related to quality, safety, patient outcomes, and organizational priorities.
  • Contribute to sustainable data, reporting, analytics processes, and infrastructure.
  • Prepare analytical summaries, presentations, and decision-support materials for operational, executive, and board-level audiences.
  • Support the application of advanced analytics, automation, and emerging AI-enabled methods to improve reporting and insight generation.
  • Undergraduate Degree in Health Science, Health Informatics, Health Administration, Business, or Industrial/Process Engineering, or related field (master’s degree an asset).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in healthcare analytics, healthcare quality, performance management, or related roles.
  • Demonstrated experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, and data visualization using modern analytical tools and platforms.
  • Proven ability to translate data into stories and insights that inform decision-making and inspire action.
  • Knowledge of healthcare quality and safety practices, incident reporting, and performance measurement frameworks.
  • Experience applying quality improvement methodologies and analytical approaches to support organizational decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, engage stakeholders, gather requirements, and communicate complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience preparing reports and presenting to leadership audiences.
