Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent is required.
• Two-year recreation diploma or Health Care Aide with Recreation/Activity Certificate.
• Experience in a seniors-focused environment is an asset.
• Serving It Right and Food Safe Level 1 are assets.
• Vulnerable Sector Check required per provincial guidelines.
• Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• English reading, writing and speaking proficiency; strong interpersonal skills.
• Basic computer skills including Word, Publisher and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementing and evaluating activity programs.
• Develop monthly calendars and newsletters of programs and services.
• Coordinate external groups for in-house programs.
• Support residents and volunteers in participating in activities.
• Maintain a safe environment and follow infection control procedures.
• Observe and report changes to supervisor or nurse.
• Provide portering to and from programs as required.
• Assist with orientation of new staff and volunteers.
