Motion is experiencing rapid growth (3x YoY), with a sticky product and recent $30M Series B funding. We have doubled our customers and headcount in 2024, now with just under 60 team members.

We are just getting started and need your help!

We've created a new software category to connect performance marketers with creative teams. Our platform combines creative analytics, research, and strategy, serving as the command center for Creative Strategists.

Our clients include top e-commerce and DTC brands like Vuori, True Classic, The Farmer’s Dog, HexClad, and thousands more, analyzing over $13B in media spend with Motion.

About the Role

Data is central to our value delivery. Until now, we've relied on default settings and off-the-shelf solutions, but our needs have outgrown these options. We are hiring our first dedicated data professional.

This role suits someone interested in a full-stack, end-to-end role with autonomy, ownership, and ambiguity. The work is hands-on, but you will also advise Product Managers, assist engineers, and plan with leads for the future.

1. Design, maintain, and evolve database schemas across PostgreSQL and other systems, ensuring scalability
2. Drive technology choices as new needs emerge
3. Optimize database performance through indexing, query tuning, and configuration
4. Support database and schema migrations (including to PostgreSQL), contributing to design and data movement
5. Manage routine database maintenance tasks
6. Implement and maintain data security and access controls
7. Set up and manage ETL processes
8. And much more!

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years of experience
• Comfortable with diverse database technologies
• Deep experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB
• Knowledge of vector embeddings and vector databases
• Familiarity with hosted database solutions
• Experience with schemas, transformations, and ETLs
• Expertise in SQL and document databases
