Job description

As a data scientist, you provide the data needed to make business decisions, develop solutions and services adapted to business issues, and understand member and client behaviour. You lead and influence stakeholders in projects and initiatives to proactively meet cross-sector business needs through the development of highly innovative models and complex strategic interventions in advanced analytics and artificial intelligence. Your initiatives require extensive, in-depth knowledge of your field. You make recommendations on the planning and execution of operationally and conceptually complex projects and initiatives using your analytical skills and your comprehensive understanding of the line of business and the organization. You serve as an expert advisor and subject matter expert, resource person, and coach for senior management and decision-making bodies. You interact with many stakeholders working in a wide range of fields and advise decision-making committees on strategic directions and business positions. More specifically, you will be required to:

  1. Oversee data mining, evaluation, feature engineering, quality inspection and adjustment of available data, and the selection of predictors for multidisciplinary and strategic predictive modeling mandates.
  2. Analyze client and partner needs, and lead mandates involving complex business issues that may lead to business positions and recommendations related to strategic directions in terms of operationalizing advanced analytics solutions.
  3. Apply very advanced and innovative statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods to use data, and develop and optimize models and segmentations that meet business needs.
  4. Create the programming needed to prepare and mine data, and develop, evaluate, support, roll out and manage highly conceptually complex, innovative models.
  5. Represent the teams to members of senior management and partners and external organizations.
  6. Establish and draft technological guidelines, methods, and choices. Advise and train teams on model development methods and make improvements to speed up delivery.
  7. Identify opportunities to improve rules and systems, anticipate underlying impacts of changes, and oversee enhancement of data management tools.
