Job summary

Jobber is seeking a Staff Data Scientist, Applied Machine Learning to join our Data Science team in Vancouver. You will own models and systems for automated decisioning, train and evaluate models with graph representation learning, transformers, and ranking, and deploy them to serve in real time at scale within Jobber’s product.

This senior individual contributor role has architectural scope, partnering with leaders across Customer Analytics, BI, and Product to turn data into business impact and

Qualifications

• Experience shipping ML models end-to-end in production.
• Strong grasp of statistics, bias/variance, loss functions.
• Proficient in SQL and production-grade Python.
• Deep learning, transformers, ranking, and representation learning.
• Experience with LLMs in production including RAG and context management.
• Experience handling large-scale data in production environments and related platforms.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and ability to align across teams.
• Owns quality and drives ML engineering standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate production ML end-to-end pipelines.
• Lead the evaluation of retrieval-augmented generation systems on top of graph data.
• Mentor other scientists and raise the team's technical bar.
• Collaborate with senior leadership and cross-functional partners to shape product decisions.
