Job summary

Marqeta is hiring a Software Engineer II for the Data Engineering Platform to steward Snowflake data infrastructure. The role is remote from Canada (Ontario or British Columbia) with ownership from day one, focusing on configuration‑as‑code, access models, schema migrations, and compliance automation.

You will work on services atop the warehouse, including a customer‑facing reporting API, PCI‑scoped ETL pipelines, and cross‑region parity checks, all using Python/SQL, Airflow, Terraform, and AWS.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency.
• Experience in AWS or comparable cloud and regulated environments.
• Familiarity with infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform).
• Track record delivering shipped code with limited supervision.
• Clear written and verbal communication; RFCs and runbooks experience.

Responsibilities

• Own Terraform for Snowflake resources across a multi‑region footprint.
• Extend RBAC and credential provisioning with access‑review workflows.
• Contribute to the Snowflake schema‑migration platform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Develop data‑retention automation and cost‑lifecycle improvements.
• Build services around the warehouse: reporting APIs and PCI‑scoped ETL.
• Translate requirements into reliable, scalable platform components.
