Insight Global is seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our growing Data Governance team in Toronto. The role focuses on data classification, data quality monitoring, and governance activities supporting enterprise data management.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on data governance, profiling, and data management experience, plus strong SQL and Power BI skills to drive dashboards and reports across the organization.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of data-related experience with at least 2 years in data governance.
  • Experience in Financial Services environments.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to analyze large datasets.
  • Experience with data classification, profiling, and quality monitoring.
  • Proficient in Power BI reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform data classification and assess data assets for sensitivity and governance.
  • Conduct data profiling and quality analysis to identify issues.
  • Monitor data quality rules and governance controls.
  • Support metadata development and data builds.
  • Refresh governance dashboards and Power BI reporting.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to enterprise data standards.

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to join a growing Data Governance team within a leading financial services organization. This role will primarily focus on data classification, data quality monitoring, and governance activities that support enterprise data management initiatives. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in data governance, data quality, and data profiling, along with the technical skills needed to analyze and monitor large datasets. This is a hands‑on, technical role that will play a key part in maintaining and enhancing the organization’s data governance framework and controls.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Perform data classification activities to assess and categorize data assets based on sensitivity, business impact, and governance requirements.
  • Execute data profiling and analysis to identify data quality issues and support governance initiatives.
  • Monitor and maintain data quality rules, controls, and ongoing data governance processes.
  • Support metadata development, data builds, and data governance‑related reporting activities.
  • Participate in project engagements across multiple business initiatives while applying consistent governance standards.
  • Refresh and maintain governance dashboards and reporting, including Power BI‑based reporting where applicable.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support governance mandates and ensure adherence to enterprise data standards.
  • Assist with business‑as‑usual (BAU) governance activities and ongoing monitoring efforts.

  • 10% Reporting & Dashboard Refreshes
Skills and Requirements
Experience
  • 4-6 years of overall data‑related experience (3 years may be acceptable).
  • Minimum 2+ years of hands‑on experience in Data Governance.
  • Experience working within Financial Services environments.
  • Proven experience with:
    • Data Classification
    • Data Profiling
    • Data Quality Rule Monitoring
    • Data Quality Management
    • Data Governance Frameworks and Controls
Technical Skills
  • Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and analyze large datasets.
  • Experience using either:
    • SAS, OR
    • Python
  • Understanding of data transformation processes and data lifecycle management.
  • Experience working with data monitoring tools, governance controls, and data management practices.
Professional Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience supporting governance initiatives across multiple projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a small governance team.
  • Experience working within financial services.
  • Courses, training, or professional development in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Management.
  • Experience working in the Canadian financial services market.
  • Power BI experience.
  • Exposure to project coordination activities including:
    • Managing timelines
    • Tracking deliverables
    • Managing stakeholder expectations
