Senior Data Engineer – Adobe RTCDP, AJO, and RTCDP / AEM schema
Location: Toronto – 3-4 days onsite (days TBD). Subject to change: onsite days may be required based on business needs.
Contract Duration: 5 months (high chance of extension)
Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours / week)
Role: MarTech Adobe AEP CDP Data Specialist
Overview
Client: Large banking client. Focus on building, integrating, and optimizing data pipelines and schemas that power customer data activation and personalization across digital channels and API-driven integrations within Adobe Experience Platform (AEP). Experience with other enterprise MarTech stacks (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Eloqua, Marketo, Pega CDH) is welcome.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement XDM-based schemas in Adobe RTCDP to support audience segmentation, personalization, and activation.
- Extend standard schemas for custom business requirements while ensuring compatibility with downstream activation channels.
- Translate schema and data modeling experience from platforms like Eloqua and SFMC into scalable solutions within AEP.
- Collaborate with marketing and engineering teams to align schema design with campaign and journey orchestration needs across platforms.
- Build and maintain ingestion pipelines for batch and streaming data sources (mobile and web events).
- Configure and manage integrations using AEP APIs for automated data ingestion, export, and audience activation.
- Apply prior experience with data ingestion and mapping from other MarTech platforms to optimize onboarding into AEP.
- Enable data readiness for AJO journeys and campaigns with proper schema and dataset alignment.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to operationalize customer journeys powered by real-time event data.
- Develop and maintain REST API integrations between AEP and external systems for data synchronization, activation, and reporting.
- Implement data validation, mapping, and transformation rules to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Partner with data governance teams to maintain data privacy, consent, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
Qualifications (Must Have)
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role in a MarTech or data engineering context
- Hands-on experience with Adobe RTCDP schema design, dataset management, and ingestion workflows
- Working knowledge of Adobe Journey Optimizer and its integration with RTCDP datasets
- Proficiency with AEP APIs for data ingestion, activation, and schema management
- Strong SQL skills and programming experience (Python, Java, or Node.js preferred)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) for data processing and integration
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Schema and data integration experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Eloqua, Marketo, or Pega CDH
- Familiarity with Eloqua CDOs and SFMC Data Extensions and Contact Builder
- Experience with customer identity stitching and profile unification in RTCDP or similar
- Knowledge of event-based data models and real-time streaming pipelines (Kafka, Kinesis, etc.)
- Familiarity with marketing automation, personalization strategies, and customer journey orchestration
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (computer engineering, computer science). Adobe certifications are an asset.
Candidate Profile
Best candidates have all the must-have skills, strong AEP API, MarTech and Adobe product experience, plus good communication. This is a senior role requiring the ability to articulate issues and collaborate with senior team members.
Interview Process
- 1st round: 1 hour technical panel interview with a senior manager, architect, and senior developer (MS Teams)
- 2nd round: 30–45 minutes with delivery / program lead and director (potential to be in person)
- Possible 3rd round as a tiebreaker
