Job summary

Manulife Financial Corporation in Toronto, Canada, is seeking a Senior Data Architect to define and lead our segment data architecture strategy, enabling trusted, scalable, secure, and AI-ready data capabilities across the organization.

You will partner with business and technology stakeholders to design data requirements, data domains, and scalable data solutions that support analytics, governance, and AI workloads, while contributing hands-on in data platform engineering.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience architecting large-scale data solutions.
• Hands-on with modern data platforms (Azure, Databricks, Spark).
• Strong SQL/NoSQL and scripting/programming skills (Python, PySpark, Java, or Scala).
• Knowledge of data lakes, data warehouses, data governance, and data quality.
• Experience leading cloud-based data platform implementations.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the segment data architecture vision, standards, principles, and roadmap.
• Design scalable Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Lakehouse architectures for analytics, operational, and AI workloads.
• Establish patterns for data integration, metadata management, governance, quality, and data products.
• Lead data modernization, migration, and cloud transformation initiatives.
• Lead design and implementation of data pipelines, integration frameworks, and cloud-native platforms.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for data engineering, ingestion, transformation, and performance optimization.
• Design and implement scalable batch, streaming, and near real-time data processing.
• Ensure data is secure, governed, and compliant with regulatory privacy requirements.
• Partner with governance, risk, and security teams to promote responsible data use.
• Design AI-ready data architectures supporting ML, analytics, and Generative AI.
• Provide governance across strategic data initiatives and lead architecture reviews.
