As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in understanding, documenting, and optimizing our client's data ecosystem. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, streamlining data-driven decision-making, and enhancing reporting capabilities. This role requires a strong blend of technical expertise, analytical competence, and excellent communication skills. Our client is a leading player in the life insurance industry, undergoing significant data modernization initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
- Data Flow Mapping & Analysis:
- Conduct in-depth analysis of existing data flows from various source systems within the life insurance domain.
- Create comprehensive "as-is" documentation of current data architectures, data lineage, transformations, and system integrations.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to define and document the "to-be" data states, identifying opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Requirements Gathering & Documentation:
- Partner with business users to elicit, analyze, and document detailed requirements for reporting, dashboards, and data visualization initiatives.
- Translate complex business requirements into clear, concise, and actionable technical specifications.
- Prepare and maintain extensive, high-quality documentation in our client's Confluence system, including data dictionaries, data models, process flows, and requirements traceability matrices.
- Data Analysis & SQL:
- Utilize advanced SQL skills to query, analyze, and validate data from diverse databases.
- Perform data profiling, data quality assessments, and identify discrepancies or anomalies.
- Support data migration and integration efforts through data mapping and validation.
- Act as a primary liaison with third-party vendors involved in data-related projects, ensuring clear communication, scope adherence, and successful delivery.
- Oversee vendor performance, manage expectations, and resolve any issues or roadblocks.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business users, IT developers, solution architects, and project managers.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to gather information, present findings, and gain consensus.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience as a Business Systems Analyst and/or Data Analyst.
- Demonstrable experience working for a Life Insurance client in a data-focused role
- Must-have expertise in SQL for data querying, analysis, and validation.
- Proven experience in mapping and documenting complex data flows and system integrations.
- Strong background in gathering and documenting business requirements for reporting and analytical solutions.
- Proficiency in preparing extensive documentation within Confluence or similar systems.
- Mandatory experience managing and collaborating with external vendors on data-related projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Understanding of data governance principles.
