Job description

Our client is seeking contracting services for a Data Analyst to support the analytics initiatives prioritized by the BISC for 2024 and supplement other work required on the Data Management Program (DMP).

The scope of the work will include (but is not limited to):

1. Understand the business requirements to devise a technical solution that aligns with the business's objectives.

2. Understand the nuances of the data and its relationships to build reputable results.

3. Leverage the technology to build full-function, easy-to-use dashboards and solutions.

4. Collect, transform, and store data required for business intelligence and analytics (including internal and external data sources).

5. Build, test, and maintain database pipeline architectures.

6. Streamline data collection methods to create automated and easy-to-use routines.

7. Perform cleansing, processing, and validating the data to be analyzed to ensure its quality.

8. Explore and visualize data using Python and business intelligence tools.

9. Document all data pipelines and transformations created.

10. Follow standards for data analysis at APS to promote maintainability and testability. Recommend improvements to practices where appropriate.

MUST reside in Alberta.

• Very strong proficiency in SQL.

• Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, R).

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.

• Strong proficiency with data architecture and best practices.

• Experience with data cleaning and preparation.

• Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Incorta) and data frameworks (e.g., Hadoop/Spark).

• Understanding of analytical models and how to structure data for model usage.

• Strong multi-tasking skills, with an ability to adapt to and manage changing priorities.

• Ability to be adaptive and learn new tools, skills, and abilities.

• Ability to work within a team environment or independently as needed.

• Ability to manage your time efficiently and work with little supervision.

• Ability to manage stress in an environment with high expectations, tight deadlines, and changing priorities.
