Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking a Director, Non-Retail Credit Risk Audit in Toronto to lead complex audits in the 3rd Line of Defense. You will oversee audit planning, execution, and reporting as AP/OIC, ensuring risk-based approaches and high-quality evidence.

You will build strong relationships with management, regulators, and stakeholders, coach teams, and apply IIA ethics while advancing the bank's risk governance and control framework across corporate and wholesale units.

Qualifications

• University degree in business, finance, economics, accountancy or related field.
• Accounting designation or other professional designation (e.g. CPA/CFA) is an asset.
• Minimum of 8 years of Corporate/Commercial/Wholesale Banking and/or Non‑Retail Credit Risk Management experience.
• Working knowledge of operations and regulatory environments for each unit as applicable.
• Proven ability to work in high levels of ambiguity and in a rapidly changing environment.
• Highly proficient at applying Scotiabank methodology and using risk-based auditing standards and practices.
• Strong analytical skills in the use of data analytics or visualization tools.
• Ability to supervise multiple projects concurrently.
• Strong people management and coaching/development skills.
• Experience in data governance practices.
• Fully bilingual (Spanish/English) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Audit Principal (AP) or Officer in Charge (OIC) for assigned audits.
• Oversees execution, planning, and reporting; develops risk-based audit approaches.
• Ensures audit results are gathered and root causes identified.
• Builds strong relationships with management, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Leads client-focused culture and deepens bank relationships.
