Job summary

Ausenco is seeking a Senior Cost Controller to join a North American mining project. You will maintain cost control systems, reconcile activities, and support progress reports using earned value management (EVM).

With 10–15 years in planning or project controls on heavy industrial or EPCM projects, you will work with Hexagon PPM, Oracle E-Business, and Excel, traveling to project sites as needed. This hybrid role offers growth and a collaborative environment at Ausenco.

Qualifications

  • Technical/engineering background with a diploma or degree in engineering or project management.
  • 10–15 years of planning/cost control or project control on heavy industrial and mining EPCM projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Hexagon PPM, Oracle E-Business, and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update project cost control systems and reporting.
  • Reconcile cost activities across internal teams and third parties.
  • Support periodic progress reports using earned value management (EVM).
  • Assist in cash flow forecasts and staffing reports.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, and progress using data-driven insights.
  • Collaborate with Lead Planner to maintain Primavera P6 schedules.
  • Code schedule activities according to WBS and control systems.
  • Assist estimators with converting cost estimates into budgets.
  • Develop and maintain cost control procedures.
  • Provide support to Project Services with deliverables and docs.
  • Perform other project controls tasks.

We are currentlyseeking an energetic and enthusiastic Senior Cost Controller.

About the role
  • Maintain and update project cost control systems and coding structures using standard Ausenco tools to monitor and report on trends, scope changes, commitments, payments, forecasts, and budget variances.
  • Reconcile cost activities from internal teams, consultants, and third parties to ensure accurate and comprehensive project reporting.
  • Support the preparation of periodic progress reports for engineering, procurement, and construction phases using earned value management (EVM) methodologies.
  • Assist in developing periodic cash flow forecasts and staffing (manning) reports.
  • Monitor project performance across cost, schedule, and progress metrics to provide transparent, data‑driven assessments to management.
  • Track and manage scope changes, maintaining the scope change database and analyzing impacts against the control budget.
  • Support internal reviews and continuous improvement efforts related to project operations and performance reporting.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Planner to maintain accurate and up-to‑date project schedules in Primavera P6 across Engineering, Procurement, and Construction phases.
  • Ensure schedule activities are appropriately coded according to the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and integrated with control systems for effective progress and forecast analysis.
  • Assist Estimators with the conversion of cost estimates into capital control budgets.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of project control procedures, particularly those related to cost control.
  • Provide professional support to the Project Services team in preparing project control deliverables and documentation.
  • Perform other project controls-related tasks and duties as assigned.
About you
  • Technical / engineering background with diploma / degree in engineering or project management.
  • 10 - 15 years’ experience in planning/cost control or project control on heavy industrial and mining, on studies and/or EPCM projects.
  • Good knowledge of:
    • Hexagon PPM Software (Ecosys, SDx, SMAT)
    • Oracle E-Business
  • Strong and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Willingness to travel to project site on a regular basis.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
  • As this position requires significant amount of cooperation with other individuals, excellent interpersonal and team playing skills are essential for success.

Salary range:

$135,000 - $170,000annually
