Job summary

Progesys Inc. in Laval and the Vancouver region is seeking a Cost Controller to lead budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial performance reporting for complex projects. You will work with planning, accounting, and project teams to monitor costs, manage variances, and ensure accurate payments and POs.

This role requires travel to project sites and a results‑driven, detail‑oriented mindset. The ideal candidate has a engineering degree and 10 years EPCM cost control experience, with proficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering.
• 10 years of cost control experience in an EPCM environment, preferably in mining or natural resources.
• Experience with PRISM G2 is an asset; Primavera and SAP knowledge is beneficial.
• Advanced MS Excel proficiency is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update project budgets and cash flow forecasts.
• Prepare project performance reports with EAC, ETC, EVMS indicators.
• Monitor project costs and identify variances; recommend corrective actions.
• Consolidate financial data from contractors and ensure accurate payments and PO tracking.
• Collaborate between accounting, engineering, and project management teams.
• Support cost control tool improvements and feasibility assessments.

Job description

Progesys is a recognized project management firm specializing in industrial projects and the successful transition from construction to operations. Headquartered in Laval, Canada since 2002, the company also has offices in the United States, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America.

We are currently looking for a Cost Controller to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
• Prepare project performance reports (including EAC, ETC, EVMS indicators, cost and schedule variances) in collaboration with the planning team
• Monitor project costs throughout the full project lifecycle, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions
• Consolidate and validate financial data from contractors and subcontractors
• Ensure accuracy of payments, commitments, invoices, and purchase orders
• Act as a liaison between accounting, engineering, and project management teams
• Track and manage scope changes, analyze financial impacts, and integrate approved changes into the budget
• Apply client project control policies and procedures
• Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control tools and processes
• Support financial feasibility assessments and project financial model reviews
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Civil Engineering
• 10 years of experience in cost control within an EPCM environment, ideally in mining or natural resources projects
• Experience with PRISM G2 is an asset
• Strong knowledge of project controls, project accounting, and reporting
• Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to make decisions and manage multiple priorities
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (mandatory)
• Knowledge of Primavera and SAP is an asset
