About the Role:
Fitzrovia is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Mechanical and Electrical to join our team. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the MEP manager with estimates, takeoffs, scope of MEP trades, and reviewing scheduling for MEP installation activities during pre-construction.
- During the design assist phase, support the MEP manager in regular audits of MEP progress drawings issued by consultants, tracking comments.
- Supervise MEP subcontractors on site throughout the project, from initial mobilization.
- Coordinate commissioning and turnover to property management.
- Collaborate with the superintendent on project logistics and temporary facility plans.
- Review shop drawings for MEP systems to ensure compliance with project specifications prior to installation.
- Monitor MEP submittals and shop drawings, ensuring completion and review by consultants, and track installation progress.
- Coordinate activities, material procurement, and related tasks with the Project Manager and Field Staff.
- Review MEP subcontractor billing monthly and report findings to the MEP manager and site management.
- Attend site progress meetings and related trade meetings.
- Maintain communication with the Virtual Construction coordinator regarding coordination and interference issues, and assist in generating RFIs.
- Monitor RFI status and work to resolve open RFIs related to MEP systems.
- Review site instructions from consultants before issuing to trades.
- Review quotes from MEP subcontractors for potential changes.
- Monitor MEP trades' performance, report issues, and coordinate with Quality Assurance for inspections and testing of plumbing and fire protection systems.
- Coordinate mechanical building systems with other building systems and disciplines, including architectural, electrical, and structural.
- Ensure equipment setup, testing, and commissioning meet requirements; assist in creating occupancy programs with MEP subcontractors and site management.
- Participate in site occupancy meetings to ensure all MEP systems are tested and commissioned as per schedule.
- Review MEP subcontract close-out documents in coordination with quality assurance, ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled.
- Document and report lessons learned on projects to the MEP manager.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
- Maintain excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.
- Apply problem-solving skills to resolve coordination issues and ensure project success.
- Maintain high attention to detail to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Qualifications and Experiences:
- 5-7 years of experience in electrical coordination within the high-rise residential construction industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent certification.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Experience working with electrical contractors or in an MEP environment.
- Proven supervisory experience with MEP subcontractors, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating MEP systems during construction.
- Experience in pre-construction activities, including estimates and scoping of MEP trades.
- Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and turnover of MEP systems.
- Ability to work on-site and travel as needed.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Trimble Accubid).
- Knowledge of virtual construction tools (e.g., BIM) is a plus.
