About the Role:

Fitzrovia is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Mechanical and Electrical to join our team. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with a strong electrical engineering background, contractor experience, and a passion for delivering successful MEP systems in construction projects. Technical expertise, project management skills, and relevant industry certifications are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist the MEP manager with estimates, takeoffs, scope of MEP trades, and reviewing scheduling for MEP installation activities during pre-construction.
2. During the design assist phase, support the MEP manager in regular audits of MEP progress drawings issued by consultants, tracking comments.
3. Supervise MEP subcontractors on site throughout the project, from initial mobilization.
4. Coordinate commissioning and turnover to property management.
5. Collaborate with the superintendent on project logistics and temporary facility plans.
6. Review shop drawings for MEP systems to ensure compliance with project specifications prior to installation.
7. Monitor MEP submittals and shop drawings, ensuring completion and review by consultants, and track installation progress.
8. Coordinate activities, material procurement, and related tasks with the Project Manager and Field Staff.
9. Review MEP subcontractor billing monthly and report findings to the MEP manager and site management.
10. Attend site progress meetings and related trade meetings.
11. Maintain communication with the Virtual Construction coordinator regarding coordination and interference issues, and assist in generating RFIs.
12. Monitor RFI status and work to resolve open RFIs related to MEP systems.
13. Review site instructions from consultants before issuing to trades.
14. Review quotes from MEP subcontractors for potential changes.
15. Monitor MEP trades' performance, report issues, and coordinate with Quality Assurance for inspections and testing of plumbing and fire protection systems.
16. Coordinate mechanical building systems with other building systems and disciplines, including architectural, electrical, and structural.
17. Ensure equipment setup, testing, and commissioning meet requirements; assist in creating occupancy programs with MEP subcontractors and site management.
18. Participate in site occupancy meetings to ensure all MEP systems are tested and commissioned as per schedule.
19. Review MEP subcontract close-out documents in coordination with quality assurance, ensuring contractual obligations are fulfilled.
20. Document and report lessons learned on projects to the MEP manager.
21. Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
22. Maintain excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks.
23. Apply problem-solving skills to resolve coordination issues and ensure project success.
24. Maintain high attention to detail to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.

Qualifications and Experiences:

1. 5-7 years of experience in electrical coordination within the high-rise residential construction industry.
2. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
3. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or equivalent certification.
4. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
5. Experience working with electrical contractors or in an MEP environment.
6. Proven supervisory experience with MEP subcontractors, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating MEP systems during construction.
7. Experience in pre-construction activities, including estimates and scoping of MEP trades.
8. Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and turnover of MEP systems.
9. Ability to work on-site and travel as needed.
10. Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Trimble Accubid).
11. Knowledge of virtual construction tools (e.g., BIM) is a plus.
