Qualifications

Senior Coordinator, Mechanical and Electrical

Fitzrovia is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Mechanical and Electrical to join our team. This role is perfect for a motivated individual with a strong electrical engineering background, contractor experience, and a passion for delivering successful MEP systems in construction projects. Technical expertise, project management skills, and relevant industry certifications are highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist MEP manager with estimates, takeoffs, scope of MEP trades, and reviewing scheduling for MEP installation activities during pre-construction.
  • During Design assist phase, assist MEP manager in regular audits on MEP progress drawing sets issued by consultants tracking comments.
  • Supervise MEP subcontractors on site throughout duration of the project from initial mobilization.
  • Commissioning and Turnover to property management.
  • Work with Superintendent on project logistics and temporary facility plans.
  • Review shop drawings for MEP systems for material and equipment against project specification requirements prior to installation.
  • Monitor MEP submittals, shop drawings, ensuring completion and review by consultants, and track installation progress.
  • Coordinate activities, materials procurement and other related activities with Project Manager and Field Staff.
  • Review MEP subcontractor billing monthly and report to MEP manager and site management.
  • Attend site progress trade and all related site meetings.
  • Continuously communicate with Virtual Construction coordinator on site pertaining to coordination and interferences issues, and assist in generating RFIs.
  • Monitor RFI status and push to close open RFIs related to MEP systems.
  • Review site instructions received from consultant before official issue to trades.
  • Review quotes received from MEP subcontractors for potential changes.
  • Monitor MEP trades' performance, report issues to site management and MEP manager, and coordinate with Quality Assurance for inspections and field testing of plumbing and fire protection systems.
  • Coordinate mechanical building systems components with other building systems and other design disciplines including architectural, electrical, and structural.
  • Ensure equipment is set-up, tested (if needed), and commissioned per requirements. Assist MEP manager in creating a program with MEP subcontractor and site management for building occupancy.
  • Attend site occupancy meetings and make sure that all MEP systems required for occupancy are tested and commissioned in accordance with the program.
  • Review MEP subcontracts close out documents in coordination with quality assurance department, making sure that all contractual obligations and paper works are fulfilled.
  • Record and report lessons learned on the project to MEP manager.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical coordination, within the construction industry high rise residential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field required.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Experience working with electrical contractors or in a similar role within an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) environment preferred.
  • Proven experience in supervising MEP subcontractors, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating MEP systems during construction projects.
  • Experience in pre-construction activities, including estimates, takeoffs, and scoping of MEP trades.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, testing, and turnover of MEP systems.
  • Ability to work on-site and travel as required for project needs.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Trimble Accubid, or similar).
  • Familiarity with virtual construction coordination tools (e.g., BIM) is a plus.
