Job summary

Aramark Canada, Dal Food Services, Dalhousie University Agriculture in Truro, is seeking a Cook 1 with a strong background in large-scale cooking. You will join a celebrated team focused on delivering memorable dining experiences to the Dal community.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and quality, with opportunities to train staff and contribute to menu execution while maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of culinary experience across any setting.
• Experience with large quantity batch cooking is required.
• Journeyman or Red Seal Certification is preferred.
• Leadership experience is an asset.
• Valid WHMIS and Food Safe certificates are expected.

Responsibilities

• Trains and guides staff on duties, food safety, sanitation, and cooking methods.
• Cooks and prepares food following recipes and production guidelines.
• Sets up workstation with ingredients and equipment.
• Prepares ingredients by measuring, weighing, and chopping as needed.
• Operates ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers and other equipment.
• Bakes, roasts, steams, and uses various cooking methods.
• Decorates, portions, and presents food per guidelines.
• Stores food safely and maintains hygiene in the workspace.
• Maintains excellent customer service and positive guest interactions.
• Complies with Aramark safety policies and asset protection.
