Job summary

Ascension Automation Solutions Ltd. seeks a seasoned Controls Technician to join our team in Ontario. You will commission, install, and program PLCs and HMIs, and design control logic to meet customer requirements.

The role involves integrating PLCs, HMIs and VFDs on automated lines in diverse industries. Ideal candidates have 7+ years in the field, with 2+ years in system integration, and familiarity with Allen-Bradley or Siemens PLCs.

Qualifications

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Automation/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology or similar.
Minimum 7 years of relevant industry experience; 2+ years in system integration.
Experience with Allen Bradley or Siemens PLCs and HMIs is an asset; E Plan software beneficial.
Automotive/assembly industry experience is beneficial; local travel within Southern Ontario.

Responsibilities

Commission, setup, install, and program PLCs and HMIs per customer requirements.
Develop and design control systems logic.
Integrate PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs on automated lines across industries.
Ensure test procedures run smoothly and safely by nearby technicians.
Record data from test parts and assemblies; assist project teams with plans.
Investigate faults and report findings to lead Engineers; generate quality documentation.
