Job summary

ProSlide Technology is seeking a Controls Engineer to design, implement, and commission control systems for safety-critical applications in public environments. You will lead NPI projects, develop robust safety measures, and ensure compliance with international standards.

Based at our Ottawa head office, the role requires PLC/HMI mastery (Rockwell RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000, Siemens STEP 7/TIA Portal), risk analyses, FAT/SAT, and strong collaboration with cross‑functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of control systems engineering experience in public-facing safety-critical environments.
• Proficiency in PLC programming and HMI design.
• Strong knowledge of safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, IEC 61508, NFPA 70) and safety-critical systems.
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or equivalent certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Drive controls improvement projects by establishing goals and reporting progress.
• Lead controls development projects through the development process from design to completion.
• Provide SME support on technical challenges and assign tasks.
• Lead product NPI testing and validation at the R&D centre and project commissioning.
• Develop and maintain compliance with design codes and safety standards.
• Program and troubleshoot PLCs and HMIs in safety-critical applications.
• Conduct risk assessments and FMEA to identify hazards and implement safety measures.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and perform FAT/SAT and on-site commissioning.
• Design secure, reliable network communications between control components.
• Produce documentation: TOO, FAT, SAT, technical specs, user manuals.
• Provide training to operators and maintenance staff.
