Job summary

G Mining Services in Canada seeks a Senior Contracts Formation Specialist to lead the development and execution of complex EPC/EPCM contracts for major capital projects. You will draft, review, and negotiate agreements with suppliers and service providers, while aligning with commercial and legal requirements.

You'll work closely with Legal, Procurement, and Engineering teams to mitigate risk, support tendering, and ensure governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline is required.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Proven drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts for large projects.
• Strong knowledge of EPC, EPCM, lump sum, unit rate, and service agreements.
• Experience managing commercial and contractual risk.
• Understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead drafting, review, and formation of complex construction and supply contracts.

Job description

The Senior Contracts Formation Specialist is responsible for leading the development, drafting, negotiation, and execution of complex construction and supply chain contracts for major capital projects. This role ensures that all contractual agreements align with commercial objectives, legal requirements, project execution strategies, and risk management standards.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in construction contracting, with a strong background in drafting and administering EPC/EPCM, subcontract, supply, and service agreements within large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, drafting, review, and formation of complex construction and supply chain contracts.
• Develop and negotiate contractual terms and conditions with suppliers, subcontractors, consultants, and service providers.
• Support procurement and project teams during tendering, bid evaluation, and contract award processes.
• Ensure all contracts comply with company standards, commercial policies, legal requirements, and project objectives.
• Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate closely with Legal, Procurement, Project Controls, Engineering, and Construction teams.
• Participate in commercial negotiations and provide strategic contractual guidance.
• Prepare and maintain contract documentation, amendments, correspondence, and records.
• Support claims avoidance through clear contract language and risk allocation.
• Assist in dispute resolution and contract interpretation when required.
• Mentor junior supply chain and contracts personnel as needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of contracting processes, templates, and governance practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Law, or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in the construction industry.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts within large construction or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracting models including EPC, EPCM, lump sum, unit rate, reimbursable, and service agreements.
• Demonstrated experience managing commercial and contractual risk.
• Excellent understanding of procurement and supply chain processes.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced project environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in mining, infrastructure, energy, or heavy industrial projects.
• Familiarity with FIDIC, CCDC, NEC, or other standard contract frameworks.
• Professional certifications such as SCMP, PMP, CCM, or equivalent are considered an asset.
