Job summary

Socket.dev seeks a Senior Contract Specialist (Corporate Procurement) in Edmonton to lead procurement, contract and grant activities for the Alberta Assisted Living and Social Services ministry. You will provide expert guidance to staff and ensure governance and compliance with GoA policies.

Reporting to the Manager of the Corporate Procurement Office, you will implement and integrate contract and grant policy best practices and support staff through training and consultation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: university degree in a related field with four years of end-to-end procurement experience.
  • Equivalency: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation, policy, compliance, reporting and training services to contracting and grant staff.
  • Advise ALSS on procurement, contracts and grants policies and best practices within GoA.
  • Ensure alignment with GoA policies, legislation and trade agreements.

The Corporate Procurement Office (CPO) supports the goals and objectives of ALSS by playing a leadership role in governance, accountability, and procurement, contract, and grant management activities.

Role Responsibilities

If the answer is yes, we want you to consider a career in Corporate Procurement Office (CPO)! CPO is eager to have a strong analytical mind join their team as a Senior Contract Specialist providing services to one of the larger ministries in the Government of Alberta (GoA).

Reporting to the Manager - CPO, you will be part of a team of procurement, contract, and grant experts who provide consultation, policy, compliance, reporting, and training services to the contracting and grant program staff of Alberta Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS).

As a Senior Contract Specialist, your knowledge of best practices for procurements, contracts, and grants as well as relevant GoA policies, legislation and trade agreements, will enable you to provide expert advice and guidance in adapting, implementing and integrating corporate contract and grant policy and best practices within ALSS.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • University graduation in a related field plus four (4) years progressively responsible related experience in end to end procurement.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Assets:

  • Professional purchasing certification. E.g. Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) or similar;
  • Working knowledge of government policies, organizational structures and decision-making machinery; and
  • Experience working with contract and grant management systems.
