The Senior Contract Management Specialist in Global Site Contracting / Clinical Development Operations may be responsible for ensuring the timely and appropriate execution of Clinical Study Agreements, Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements, Master Clinical Study Agreements, Investigator Initiated Study Agreements, Facility Use Agreements, and other site-related agreements, including associated budgets and service provider agreements linked to the CSAs. This role works closely with R&D business teams/functional areas including Clinical Development Operations, Finance, Office of Ethics & Compliance, Legal, and external parties. Responsibilities include drafting, negotiating, and executing agreements, ensuring contracts are delivered on time, within Fair Market Value, and compliant with legal and regulatory standards. The SSCM acts as an Americas contract management expert, mentoring colleagues, driving excellence, and participating in process improvement projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the timely preparation and execution of CSAs, CDAs, budgets, and vendor agreements. Serve as the point person for assigned countries/regions for legal, finance, and CDO.
  • Negotiate CSAs, CDAs, site agreements, and budgets with investigator sites, using templates and guidance, liaising with legal for approvals.
  • Contribute to the update of legal and budget templates and playbooks.
  • Maintain accurate tracking of contracts and related documentation per AbbVie requirements.
  • Coordinate priorities with CDO stakeholders, legal, and finance, and communicate effectively regarding contract issues that may impact projects.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives within the Contract Management function and serve as a SME on broader process teams.
  • Demonstrate high competency in contract management, negotiation, and critical thinking.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, managing workload and supporting junior staff as needed.
  • Collaborate with Country Operations Managers to ensure effective contract management and issue resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; healthcare, legal, or scientific background preferred.
  • At least 5 years of clinical research and/or contract/budget experience, with knowledge of compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Proven negotiation, interpersonal, and business skills.
  • Strong planning, organizational skills, and ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and local language (if applicable).
  • Proactive team player capable of maintaining high performance amidst change.
  • Experience in line or matrix management and financial analysis is advantageous.
