We're looking for a Senior Quality Consultant who is passionate about advancing quality, safety, and continuous improvement across continuing care. In this influential leadership role, you'll support organization-wide initiatives that strengthen quality outcomes, promote safe care environments, and enhance resident, family, and staff experiences across Assisted Living Alberta. Working closely with operational leaders, clinical teams, contracted service providers, quality specialists, and external stakeholders, you'll help translate organizational priorities into meaningful improvements in practice, performance, and service delivery.This role combines quality improvement leadership, patient and resident safety, stakeholder engagement, project management, risk management, and performance evaluation. You'll lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of quality and safety initiatives, facilitate organizational learning, support leaders in identifying improvement opportunities, and contribute to the development of sustainable systems that strengthen accountability and outcomes. Using evidence-informed approaches, data analysis, and strong relationship-building skills, you'll help improve quality performance, support organizational learning, strengthen compliance with continuing care standards, and advance a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The Senior Quality Consultant (SQC) provides organizational leadership and expertise in quality improvement, resident safety, risk management, and performance improvement across Assisted Living Alberta. Reporting to the Director, Clinical Support, the SQC plans, coordinates, implements, evaluates, and sustains organization-wide quality and safety initiatives supporting strategic priorities, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and continuing care expectations. The SQC collaborates with operational leaders, clinicians, contracted service providers, quality teams, corporate partners, and external stakeholders to develop quality improvement strategies, performance measures, reporting processes, education plans, operational resources, and evaluation frameworks. The role facilitates organizational readiness and change management, identifies opportunities to improve quality and safety outcomes, and supports evidence-informed, sustainable improvements. The SQC provides expert consultation and leadership in quality monitoring, risk identification, incident management, reportable incidents, safety improvement, and organizational learning. The role analyzes data and trends, develops recommendations supporting operational decision making, and monitors outcomes to assess effectiveness and sustainability. The SQC facilitates multi-stakeholder working groups, supports policy and practice improvements, and represents Assisted Living Alberta on internal and external committees and collaborative initiatives. The successful candidate brings strong quality improvement expertise, exceptional facilitation and communication skills, and the ability to translate data, evidence, and stakeholder input into practical recommendations supporting high-quality, resident-centered care and organizational excellence.
Undergraduate degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, nursing, or a related field; Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations or a comparable complex service environment; Experience working in multi‑site or multi‑service operational environments; Experience leading complex projects or operational initiatives.
Documented professional development in project management, quality improvement, and/or change management; Leadership experience in strategic planning, project management, quality improvement, implementation planning, and project evaluation; Experience managing issues and risks, facilitating multi‑stakeholder groups, and resolving operational or service‑delivery challenges; Demonstrated communication skills through roles requiring preparation of reports, presentations, and engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Experience working in continuing care, seniors’ services, or similar community based or long term care environments; Leadership experience in settings where project resources did not report directly to the position; Experience applying structured problem solving or change management approaches within project or operational roles (Lean, PDSA, DMAIC, Prosci/ADKAR).
