Senior Construction Manager

Tate Engineering is an engineering, project management, construction management and consulting firm that defines and solves complex issues related to capital projects, energy and resource use, and facility management. We have provided professional project, advisory project & construction management services for some of Nova Scotia’s largest and most complex construction and engineering projects.

We are growing and seeking the right Senior Construction Manager to join our team.

About the position:

This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a pivotal role working alongside a team of professionals, delivering projects on time, within budget, and with a high-quality outcome.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with client(s) to define the purpose, risks, and financial basis for the project.
  • Develop the project plan which defines scope, describes responsibilities, establishes schedule, and confirms the budget constraints related to the project.
  • Provide Construction management from pre-construction to occupancy in collaboration with the client.
  • Evaluate submissions relative to the project needs and make recommendations for approval.
  • Provide feedback on quality, schedule, and budget throughout the construction process.
  • Select and organize trades and establish levels of authority and lines of communication.
  • Monitor, interpret and forecast project costs ensuring they are in line with the budget.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the change management process, payment certificates and other contract or project related administrative documents.

Required Hard and Soft Skills:

  • planning, organizing, scheduling, and controlling project resources to ensure timely and cost-effective completion.
  • A thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, equipment, and industry standards is crucial.
  • Proficiency in using construction-related software, such as project management software, and understanding of various project management methodologies.
  • Ability to create and manage project budgets, forecast costs, and track spending to ensure projects stay within financial constraints.
  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks to the project, including safety risks, cost overruns, and delays.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for coordinating with stakeholders, subcontractors, and project team members. Active listening, clear and concise communication, and the ability to effectively convey information to different audiences.
  • Inspiring and motivating project teams, delegating tasks effectively, and guiding the team towards project goals.
  • Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the project lifecycle, including unexpected delays or challenges.
  • Making timely and informed decisions based on available information, considering potential risks and benefits.
  • Organizing and prioritizing tasks, managing schedules, and ensuring projects are completed on time.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders, subcontractors, and project team members, and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Being able to adjust to changing project conditions, unexpected issues, and evolving client requirements.
  • Anticipating and addressing potential conflicts and finding mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set: identify tasks and opportunities to grow the Business.
  • Being a self-starter who is responsible and dependable is essential to the role.
