Job description

Location: Woodbridge / Etobicoke, ON

Work Arrangement: 100% On-site

Contract: 12 months

We are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to support the successful delivery of a large-scale data centre project in the Greater Toronto Area.

The project is progressing through the final stages of construction, commissioning, system activation, and transition to operations. The Construction Manager will work closely with project leadership and be responsible for overseeing the General Contractor (GC), monitoring project performance, and ensuring safety, quality, cost, schedule, and contractual milestones are achieved.

This is a highly field-focused, delivery-driven position requiring strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical construction, MEP trade management, commissioning, safety, and energy isolation.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of construction management experience, preferably with data centres, mission-critical facilities, or similarly complex industrial projects. Previous experience working for a General Contractor or subcontractor is strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Management & Schedule
  • Oversee the General Contractor and maintain accountability for construction progress, schedule, quality, and contractual milestones.
  • Monitor field activities and identify schedule risks, delays, critical-path issues, and construction constraints.
  • Drive timely resolution of issues to maintain project momentum and key delivery dates.
  • Coordinate construction activities across mechanical, electrical, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Monitor direct field installation and trade performance to ensure work aligns with project requirements.
  • Review change orders and evaluate potential scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
  • Communicate project risks, schedule concerns, and outstanding issues to project leadership.
Commissioning & Operational Handover
  • Support the project through final construction, testing, commissioning, system activation, and operational handover.
  • Coordinate closely with commissioning teams, operations stakeholders, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Drive resolution of deficiencies and outstanding construction items.
  • Support the transition from construction into an operational mission-critical facility.
  • Maintain progress toward commissioning milestones and operational readiness.
Health, Safety & Quality
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the construction site.
  • Hold the General Contractor accountable for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Participate in regular safety walks and ensure identified hazards receive appropriate corrective action.
  • Monitor energy-isolation and LOTO procedures within the construction and commissioning environment.
  • Monitor construction quality against project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Identify deficiencies and work with the GC to implement timely corrective actions.
Cost & Contract Administration
  • Review monthly GC and subcontractor payment applications and validate requests against completed work and contractual requirements.
  • Participate in contract-administration meetings.
  • Review and assess change orders for cost and schedule impacts.
  • Assist with resolving commercial and contractual issues.
  • Monitor performance and elevate emerging cost, schedule, quality, or contractual risks.
Stakeholder & Contractor Management
  • Build effective relationships with the General Contractor, subcontractors, internal project teams, commissioning teams, and operations stakeholders.
  • Hold contractors accountable while maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Make timely decisions and drive practical solutions in a schedule-sensitive environment.
  • Clearly communicate risks, deficiencies, delays, and outstanding actions.
  • Remain flexible and support activities outside traditional construction management responsibilities when required to achieve project objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of construction management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with data centre, mission-critical, or similarly complex industrial construction projects.
  • Strong field experience with mechanical and electrical construction and MEP trades.
  • Experience managing contractors and trades performing direct field installation.
  • Experience supporting commissioning, system activation, testing, and operational handover.
  • Ability to identify and resolve schedule risks and critical-path issues in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety, including energy isolation / LOTO.
  • Experience reviewing or administering change orders, payment applications, contracts, costs, and schedule impacts.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience with Procore, PDF/document-management tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and make timely decisions under schedule pressure.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in the Woodbridge / Etobicoke area.
Preferred Qualifications
