Job summary

Huawei Canada is seeking a Senior Compiler Engineer to join the Heterogeneous Compiler Lab. The team contributes to LLVM and develops heterogeneous compilation for AI, GPU, and CPU architectures, with strong open-source collaboration.

The role includes design, development, performance optimization, co-design with hardware, and leadership in scrums, reviews, and planning. Collaboration with stakeholders and mentoring junior developers are key aspects of the position.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience programming in large software projects with C++, C, or Java.
• Experience in at least two of: compiler development, language runtimes, DL frameworks, GPU drivers, hardware accelerators.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
• In-depth understanding of computer processor architecture.
• Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D in CS/CE or related field (asset).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software to satisfy business requirements in a wide range of products.
• Analyze and optimize software system performance, and assist with software/hardware co-design.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, determine project and feature requirements, and create development plans for software productization.
• Provide leadership in scrums, reviews, and project planning; engage in team building.
• Mentor junior developers through education sessions, code reviews, and career development.
• Research industry trends and propose new technical directions for the team.
