Job summary

EQ Bank in Toronto is seeking a seasoned Commercial Mortgage Workout professional to manage delinquent and problem loans, including large multipliers above $2.5MM, and coordinate legal actions and remedies.

You will lead underwriting reviews, monitor risk ratings, and partner with Mortgage Services and Senior Management to improve efficiency, with a hybrid work arrangement and opportunities to shape Canada’s Challenger Bank.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years of commercial mortgage experience, with default experience preferred.
• Business degree or CPA or equivalent.
• Understanding of mortgage enforcement remedies and foreclosures in Canada.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of secured lending and end-to-end processes.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Manage complex delinquent and problem commercial mortgages (>$2.5MM) and minimize losses.
• Process loans for legal action due to non-payment and assess remedies.
• Oversee underwriting including collateral analysis and risk ratings for defaults.
• Collaborate with Mortgage Services and Senior Management; provide timely updates.
• Potentially oversee recovery properties and prepare management reports.
• Drive efficiency by implementing new policies and ad hoc improvement projects.
