Description

Infinera is seeking a Coherent Optical Systems Architect to join our Optical Systems Group. The role involves developing and optimizing next-generation coherent MODEMs based on photonic integrated circuits, working with prototype hardware, characterizing performance, and collaborating across multiple engineering teams to enhance optical communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize optical systems and components, including pushing for higher baud rates.
• Perform signal processing, waveform analysis, and performance measurements.
• Collaborate with firmware, optical, and ASIC teams to optimize system performance.
• Present findings and document specifications for new platforms.
• Engage in customer-facing activities such as field trials and troubleshooting.

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Deep understanding of optical communication systems, DWDM, photonic components, and signal processing.
• Hands-on experience with optical hardware, high-speed testing, and measurement equipment.
• Experience with modulation formats (QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM), coding, and FEC algorithms.
• Programming skills in Matlab, Python, VB.net, or C.
