Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Senior CNC Manufacturing Engineer in Markham, Ontario, to lead cutting tool development, CNC macro programs, and automation initiatives in a metal machining environment.

You will collaborate with IT and CAM teams, mentor colleagues, and travel internationally for short-term assignments as needed. A minimum of 5 years hands-on experience and a Mechanical Engineering background is required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in the metal machining industry.
  • Experience CNC programming for milling and turning.
  • Experience with FANUC, Mitsubishi, and Heidenhain controls.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Test and develop cutting tools, machining techniques, and manufacturing methods for milling before and after heat treatment.
  • Develop and optimize CNC machine macro programs for automation and efficiency.
  • Develop machine shop applications and automation solutions in collaboration with the IT team.
  • Guide and support the CAM development team.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day technical issues within the machine shop.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to machining processes, productivity, quality, and automation.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to other team members as required.
  • Travel internationally for short-term assignments as required.

Senior CNC Manufacturing Engineer

Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Exco Extrusion Dies, Markham, Ontario
Industry: Extrusion Die and Mold Machining

Experience

Minimum5 years of hands-on experience in the metal machining industry, including:

  • CNC programming for bothmilling and turning
  • Experience working with machine controls such asFANUC, Mitsubishi, and Heidenhain
  • Strong practical knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and manufacturing techniques
Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Test and developcutting tools, machining techniques, and manufacturing methods, with a primary focus on milling applications bothbefore and after heat treatment
  • Develop and optimizeCNC machine macro programs, with a focus on automation and process efficiency
  • Develop machine shop applications and automation solutions in collaboration with theIT team
  • Guide and support theCAM development team
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve day-to-day technical issues within the machine shop

Skills and Qualities

Strong fundamentals inmathematics, physics, mechanical engineering, and machining principles are essential.

Education

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
