The Senior Cloud Engineer role is part of the Modern App Platform Engineering team. This member will create platform components and services for enterprise-wide use.

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

• Develop, manage, and maintain cloud platforms, services, and components to enable enterprise-wide cloud functionality.
• Provide Level 3 support responsibilities.
• Take technical ownership/leadership of enterprise cloud products or complex parts of larger products, including design, software, and processes for ongoing operations.
• Design, implement, and refactor code.
• Participate in design discussions focusing on scalability, best practices, and implementation.
• Ensure software and applications meet high availability, integrity, and reliability standards.
• Collaborate with lead engineers and architects on designing solutions, scoping, and estimating tasks.
• Engage in planning, retrospectives, stand-ups, etc.
• Build and operate highly available, scalable software and infrastructure.
• Mentor junior cloud engineers.
• Participate in peer reviews and quality control processes daily.

Do you have the skills to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Enthusiasm for cloud transformation and platform development
• Strong development experience with languages like Java and Python
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle and related technologies
• Domain expertise in cloud platform features and capabilities
• Ability to solve ambiguous and novel problems collaboratively
• Expertise in modern technology stacks, platform building, or legacy systems
• Full stack product development experience
• Experience in technical leadership of small teams
• Strong communication skills, especially with technical audiences
• Experience delivering enterprise systems across teams
• Knowledge of design patterns, infrastructure architecture, DevOps, security
• Understanding of scalable enterprise software design (code and infrastructure)
• Experience with relational databases
• Knowledge of software release processes, CI/CD
• Attention to detail and high quality standards
• Willingness to learn and grow
• Passion for driving high performance and quality craftsmanship
• Ability to document systems and resolve issues
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and Terraform
• Experience in Canadian financial institutions is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or mathematics
