Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Cloud) based in Canada to modernize data infrastructure and build scalable cloud-based data products in a globally distributed tech environment.

You will migrate workloads from MS SQL Server to a modern cloud platform, design ETL/ELT pipelines, and collaborate with analysts and stakeholders to deliver robust, production-ready data solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong professional background in Data Engineering with advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases.
• Hands-on experience with GCP data technologies and services such as BigQuery, Cloud Composer, and Google Cloud Storage.
• Proven experience designing and operating production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and analytical data models.
• Experience deploying, configuring, and managing cloud data services including workflow orchestration and cloud storage.
• Strong Python skills and practical application across data engineering, automation, and analytics.
• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts (IAM, networking, monitoring, CI/CD).
• Experience with legacy data warehouses and modernization of complex SQL environments.
• Ability to investigate data issues, validate migrations, and maintain data quality.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and a structured engineering approach.
• Comfortable collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a distributed, international environment.
• Fluent Russian communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Migrate data products, workloads, and processes from MS SQL Server to a modern cloud data platform.
• Analyze legacy SQL, ETL workflows, and data models; redesign for the target cloud architecture.
• Build, maintain, and optimize scalable batch data pipelines and analytical models for production.
• Deploy, configure, and operate managed cloud data services including data warehouses and orchestration.
• Validate migrated data, investigate discrepancies, and ensure data quality.
• Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Contribute to data platform reliability, performance, cost efficiency, and best practices.
• Develop AI-assisted engineering automation for data workflows and reusable tools.
• Apply automation and infrastructure practices to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Identify risks and opportunities for continuous improvement across pipelines and cloud infra.
