Job summary

Extendicare in Markham, Ontario is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and modernize enterprise data integrations, supporting business transformation initiatives and cloud data capabilities.

You will mentor team members, develop scalable ETL pipelines with SQL Server, SSIS, Python, PowerShell and Azure, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure data quality and security.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, ETL Development, or Data Warehouse Development.
• Advanced experience with SQL Server, SSIS, Python, and ETL methodologies.
• Experience with Azure cloud technologies such as Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and Fabric.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy data integration solutions between enterprise applications and business systems.
• Develop and maintain ETL processes using SQL Server, SSIS, Python, PowerShell, and Azure technologies.
• Support cloud transformation initiatives, including modernization of legacy integrations and migration of on-premise data solutions.
• Build scalable integration frameworks supporting acquisition, migration, and business transformation projects.
• Troubleshoot data quality issues, integration failures, and performance bottlenecks.
• Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and data transformation processes.
• Implement monitoring, logging, auditing, and alerting for reliable data pipelines.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and promote data security, governance, and privacy practices.
• Mentor team members and share knowledge to grow cloud and data integration capabilities.
