Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton is hiring a Senior Accountant, Cloud Accounting Services (Senior Bookkeeper) to support cloud bookkeeping for various clients. You’ll reconcile data from multiple apps, manage bank and vendor statements, payroll, GST/HST/PST reporting, and monthly/quarterly closings.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clients, independent work, and mentoring junior staff, with a focus on leveraging technology and delivering accurate financial insights from a Canadian practice.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in a similar role.
• Bookkeeping certification or equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience working independently and as a team on engagements, monitoring tasks, and deadlines.
• Attention to Detail.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile data from 3rd party applications such as Dext, Wagepoint, Plooto, etc.
• Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements in QuickBooks Online
• Reconcile and review sales data
• Review accounts receivable/accounts payable and process using 3rd party applications
• Reconcile Monthly Vendor Statements
• Review payroll time entries and process payroll
• Run GST/HST/PST reports, review audit trail and file reports with CRA
• Prepare T4 returns
• Set up client files, assist with budgets and complete administrative planning and other aspects of cloud Bookkeeping work
• Perform/assist with month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
• Experience with prepaids, amortization and intercompany transactions preferred
• Perform basic financial analysis
• Prepare basic analytical reports and cash flow statements
• Collaborate with clients on a regular basis
• Train and mentor junior colleagues
