Job summary

Doane Grant Thornton LLP in Kelowna is seeking a Senior Accounting Technician for the Privately Held Business Group. You will collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional client service across industries, handle financial statement reviews, compilations, and monthly bookkeeping, including payroll and HST calculations.

The role requires 3-5 years of public practice accounting, strength in tax return preparation, and a client-focused mindset.

Qualifications

• Completed post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent professional experience.
• 3-5 years of public practice accounting and/or bookkeeping experience for small to medium sized owner-managed businesses.
• Strong technical expertise in accounting.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating with colleagues to provide exceptional service to clients under varying reporting frameworks across different industries and sectors.
• Planning, preparing and executing financial statement reviews and compilations, including budget and resource requirements.
• Completing monthly and annual bookkeeping for clients (preparation and advisory) and assisting with payroll and HST calculations.
• Preparing various types of tax returns and responding to CRA requests for information.
• Supervising, coaching and providing timely feedback to junior engagement team members.
