Senior Civil Technologist (on-call/hourly)

Kamit Group is seeking an on-call (hourly) Senior Civil/Geotechnical Technician/Engineering Technologist to join our Edmonton team. The role involves delivering testing services related to civil projects, including infrastructure, material engineering, and quality control.

Job type: Contract – hourly/on-call/project-specific

Responsibilities:

• Perform concrete testing, site inspections, and compaction testing (soil and asphalt) using a nuclear gauge.
• Collect data and conduct general geotechnical work.
• Supervise junior staff as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geotechnical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
• CCIL certification.
• Experience with concrete testing (air meter, temperature, slump).
• Experience with soil compaction testing and nuclear gauge.
• CCIL lab testing (proctor), concrete strength testing, sieve analysis.

Relevant experience: 3+ years.

Skills:

• Knowledge of industrial and municipal projects.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute geotechnical testing.
• Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Assist with project organization and timesheet management.

Additional requirements include a police/criminal record check, punctuality, valid Alberta driver’s license, safety boots, and willingness to travel to various sites.

Compensation:

$28-32 per hour, depending on experience.
