J.L. Richards & Associates Limited in Sudbury is seeking a Senior Civil Technologist – Mining with a strong background in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. You will lead civil design drawings and models for mining infrastructure, work with a multidisciplinary team, and guide project execution from concept to completion.

You will collaborate with stamping engineers, manage client communications, and contribute to proposals and budgets for diverse mining projects in northern Ontario.

Qualifications

• Requires 10+ years of experience as Civil Technologist, Technician, or Designer.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for mining infrastructure design.
• Strong ability to guide project production teams and coordinate multidisciplinary work.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of civil design drawings and models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for mining sites.
• Provide technical guidance as civil discipline lead in collaboration with engineers.
• Support project execution from concept through construction and closeout.
• Coordinate civil discipline activities with other engineers, architects, and technologists.
• Assist with proposals, budgets, tenders, and technical reports for civil work.
• Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders with attention to detail.

Your Role as a Senior Civil Technologist – Mining:

Choose your own adventure! Let’s talk about how your skills, experience, goals, and passions can find a home at JLR. As a Senior Civil Technologist, your role will include:

• Guiding project production teams on the preparation of civil design drawings and models using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for mining infrastructure, including site development, access and haul roads, pipelines, water management and drainage infrastructure, and buried water and sewage infrastructure.
• Providing technical guidance on projects as a civil discipline lead in collaboration with stamping civil engineers.
• Assisting project managers, engineers, and technologists with project execution during all project phases, from concept through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
• Coordinating civil discipline project team activities while working directly with other discipline engineers, architects, and technologists as part of an integrated multidisciplinary team.
• Supporting contract administration, construction oversight, site investigations, and inspection duties for active and closed mine sites and processing plant sites.
• Coordinating with various disciplines, contractors, and sub-consultants on multidisciplinary mining industry projects.
• Leading and participating in the preparation of proposals, engineering budgets, tenders, construction drawings, and technical documents and reports for the civil discipline.
• Communicating effectively with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders while demonstrating strong organizational, observational, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
